Our worship services are open to the public and all visitors are welcome in whatever state, status, or struggle they find themselves. Services generally last one hour and are a blending of traditional liturgy, gospel hymns, and contemporary songs. Our Sanctuary is filled with old wooden pews and beautiful stained glass windows. Our doors open at 8:30am.
Our worship service, Sunday School, and Bible Studies are casual and friendly. Please dress as you feel most comfortable. Our members and visitors will be dress in anything from casual shorts and sandles to formal suit jacket and tie. Like God, we are more interested in the person within than your outward appearance.
Children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to remain in the sanctuary for worship. We do provide childcare in our nursery for young children (0 to 3 years). You can simply check in at our Visitors' Center near the front entrance. We also provide a Children's Church service for older children (4 to 12 years) during the main part of worship. You can simply have your older children sit with you in the sanctuary, and we will call them forward for Children's Time. The kids will then go together to a classroom for Sunday School lesson during the Scripture reading and sermon parts of worship. They will return to the sanctuary prior to Communion and the close of worship. (Parents and/or older siblings are welcome to accompany them.)
Our Sanctuary is on the northeast corner of Main Street and 8th Street. There is generally plenty of street parking on Sunday mornings, but you are also welcome to park in the parking lot to the east of the church or in the alleyway behind the building. There are two entrances to the Sanctuary on Main Street and ramp and handicap door on 8th Street.
Yes, we have an adult Sunday School that meets in our Chapel on Sunday mornings from 8:45am to 9:45am. All are welcome, and we have extra Bibles if you need one. Coffee is provided, and it is a small, warm group (generally ten to twenty people). It is best to enter through the main office door from the alley, but you can also come in through the Sanctuary and walk through the building.
Yes, we host an open house twice a year during the Blossom Festival Parade and the Christmas Parade. These two events are a great oppportunity to come tour our Sanctuary and meet our members in a more casual environment than Sunday worship. Our staff would also be happy to visit with you by phone, meet with you in person, or give you a tour of the building. Our offices are open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm. If you have any questions, would like to schedule a meeting with our pastor, or would like a tour, please conctact our church secretary, Marilyn at (719) 275-0681 or secretary@canoncf.org.
Mark your calendars for these great events coming up.
